RE - Anne Frank Trust competition

In June, the Anne Frank Trust UK ran a writing competition inspired by Anne Frank. Pupils were invited to write about the importance of living together with kindness, respect and equality and to challenge prejudice and discrimination. We received many excellent pieces of work from our Year 8 pupils, who have studied Peace and Conflict and Human Rights this year. However, we are delighted that Hana in Year 8 has been commended for her work. Her work was shortlisted from over 1000 entries and was judged by Booker Prize winner Bernardine Evaristo and Anthony Anaxagorou. Hana wrote a superb piece of work called ‘Hope’. Hope was someone who gave Anne Frank hope during World War II. Here is a short extract from her work:

- Hope was barely able to keep itself moving to the Netherlands after starving for so long, but it could feel strong hope in Amsterdam which Hope hadn’t felt for over two years…… Hope just prayed that it would be able to reach it before it was extinguished, gone forever in the world of war. -
