Our school has 975 pupils on roll. The school receives Welsh Government grant funding to support us in ensuring all pupils can achieve their best possible results and progress. The % of pupils with free school meals is 19.08% and our funding contributes to supporting these pupils.

The total allocation of this funding for the school year 2014 – 2015 is £157,900.

The school uses this funding to support learning and progress for designated pupils.

We do this through the following activities:

· All pupils in Key Stage Four receive support through our Key Stage Four Mentors, Mr. Hazell and Mrs. Street. All pupils have a half termly session with their Mentors. Some pupils receive extra sessions as required.

· Specific pupils receive additional support with English and Mathematics so that they have as much help as possible to achieve their target grades.

· This support includes revision sessions in Key Stage Four and additional reading and numeracy sessions in Key Stage Three.

· To enable these activities to take place, the school has a team of specialist literacy and numeracy staff who are employed using the grant funding we receive from the Welsh Government.

· Parents / Carers of pupils who receive this specialist help are informed by letter from the school. Parents / Carers are kept informed of the progress made by their children.

· Pupil progress and the allocation of the grant is overseen and reviewed with the Governing Body at Governing Body meetings throughout the school year.
