Year 6 Open Evening takes place on Thursday 18th September @ 6.00pm - 8.30pm. There will subject based activities and a tour of the school.
Congratulations to the PE Department and the 5x60 team. This week we received national recognition of the quality of their work through the re-accreditation of the Active Mark. This follows a rigorous assessment of the quality of experiences provided for pupils to promote healthy and active living, and also praises the high levels of participation in sport in this school.
British National Schools Trampoline Championships
On March 9th 4 teams went to Cannock in Staffordshire to compete in the British National Schools Trampoline Championships. The U13 (Yr 8) boys came 5th, also the Yr 9 boys competing against Yr 10 boys came 5th.
A team of Yr 10 boys, Aled Williams, Aaron Naylor, Deacon Thomas and Charlie Wright are the British U15 boys champions, a fantastic achievement. There was also 2 teams in the U19 competition, 1 team came 5th, Ashley Forbes, Alex Morgan and Elliot Bowen and the other team, Sam Phillips, Kieran Williams and Kieran Bass won and are British Schools Champions.
For the first time ever we had an individual champion in Kieran Bass, he is the Individual Bristish Schools Trampoline Champion. This was against schools from all over the UK, including Ireland, Scotland, Sports Colleges and Public Schools. These are the best set of results we as a school have ever had, so well done to all those who competed, a fanstastic job.

Friday 19th September - "Jeans for Genes" Day
Congratulations to CL & HB for their hard work in implementing and sustaining changes to the health curriculum in the school.
On Mondays, any pupils with notes or cheques must put them into envelopes and place them in the box at the back of the canteen. The canteen does not provide the envelopes.
Basic Skills Quality Assurance
Our school has been awarded the Basic Skills Quality Standard in recognition of the outstanding work we do to support pupils in our basic skills target groups.
All these pupils are in mainstream classes, and the assessor was highly complimentary about the quality of interventions in literacy and numeracy deployed in the school. The assessormet many staff members and observed two lessons which were descried as outstanding.
Achieving this Standard is a real challenge, and has taken a huge amount of work and effort. Congratulations to all members of the Basic Skills team.
Investors in Families
We are the 1st Welsh Secondary School to be re-accredited and granted this prestigious reward. Our assessor was extremely impressed and paid tribute to the quality of the work and the 'passion' for working with our families. Well Done CL, AR and all staff involved.
